There has been much yelling and screaming here for weeks now, and sadly too many here take the word of the television pundit class on everything.

This is the same group of people who said over and over that "Al Gore said he invented the Internet" and "Al Gore said he and Tipper were role models for LOVE STORY."

The same people calling the Clintons racists were eight years ago calling Al Gore a bore, mocking his dress, and deriding his intellect.  

And we let them do it.
We cannot do this again...so read on.

Last night in a very red county in CO we had a forum for democratic voters.  And we got a full house in attendance.  The County dems had hoped we would get 30 or 40 people and, holy cow, we had at least three times that many.  

This happened in a county congressional district that has a hard time getting dems to vote, let alone participate and caucus.

And it was fun. Let me explain.

Dammit!  Dammit!  What the hell is wrong with these two men (and I use the word loosely because they are more like to tabloid boys seeing who can get the "dirt", the gossip).

The ISSUES, idiots.  Voters want to talk about the issues.  The candidates have made it clear!

And yet before that, he was whining that religion should not be a part of this.  Which the hell is it Chris????

Oh I forgot.  Mitt is a rethug and you love you some right wingers. Yea, yea you whine about the war but hell you voted for Bush, described the lying jerk as  having a "sunny nobility" and practically drool over tough guy Rudy.

I know "JUST DON'T WATCH".  I am sure at least one kossack will remind me to change the channel.  But sometimes, on cool dreary days, I cannot avert my eyes from the train wreck that is Hardball.  

After hearing parts of the previous shows, and Matthews DRONING on and on and on and on about Hillary's clapping, or her shrill voice, or the lies about HER playing the gender card by saying "the boys were picking me" (it's his narrative, not unlike the one about Gore saying inventing the Internets , also a lie, that he likes to play and say over and over and over until it is picked up and believed, I was curious about his "lead" today.  

So today, I was curious as to what he would lead with, considering the breaking news on Guiliani's BFF....

What do you think he led with?

So this diary really would have fit better on last night's WYFP but effing problems don't alway arrive on cue.  I woke up to a miserable allergy attack.  No headache or pain, just a constant running nose and constant sneezing, and watery eyes.  What am I allergic to?  Bring in the Twilight Zone music.  The answer: the barometer.  When it starts to fall or rise rapidly, it triggers these things.  I have been to an allergist and have no allergies according to the tests.  But this still happens.

Anyway, so this allergic morning already had me in a scowling mood, and Will and Brokaw add to it.

So this morning, MSNBC has yet another "hot babe" newsreader, telling us all about the market.  So besides "international super star" what's her name that Matthews and Scarborough drool over, now we have this new girl, Trish Reagan.  
And, take a look at every female news reader, pundit on all of MSNBC, CNN and probably FOX.  

"So what are you," some may ask, "jealous?"

My answer is over the fold (and I know you all, especially BiPM are waiting on pins and needles for my answer).

How freaking dare Matthews accuse Hillary of playing the gender card?   Who the hell has been playing the gender card, the race card and even the religion card for the last two hundred years if not white males like Matthews?

I am sick of this garbage. I really am.

I watched Tweety and his band of friendly centrists and conservatives today, and I watched Russert and his band of CNBC honeys plus Kramer yesterday.

Guess what?  The economy is really great according to them.

Why didn't anyone tell me?

So he's there, trashing Hillary every other sentence, trying to use Obama to trash her, and at the same time, insulting Obama every chance he gets.

He calls Hillary a "McGovern elitist."

He sarcastically asks "what kind of kingdom" Obama is going to create, smugly mocking Obama's references to his faith (which I really wish he would stop doing.  John, too.  Hillary too.)

I turned 62 this year, this month. Not really celebrating so no well wishes.  I will wait until I am 65 and eligible for Medicare before I celebrate (healthcare premiums are a b*tch when you retire from teaching but I am sure much worse for many of you).  

Upon reflection, I wonder why I am not more to the right, more of a fascist, more rigid.  I wonder why the older I get, the more liberal I have become.

Something is wrong with Matthews.  Today he acts all bent out of shape when one of his guests implies he was less than fair when Gore was running the first time, as he is spewing angrily back at his guests who disagree with his desire that Gore should take it to the Clintons and screw them.

It's not just his irrational hatred of the Clintons.

YEA for the ones that refused to play the IOIYAR hypocrisy game.  As much as I despised the way Coulter and the republicans ninnies at the their convention insulted and trashed Cleland and Kerry, they still had the right because even ignorance and rudeness is protected.
You cannot legislate respect.  Isn't free speech a constitutional right? Do I not have the right to respect or disrespect anyone?

For those of us old enough, do you remember when you trusted the press to do their job?  Long before The Daily Show, there was TWTWTW aka TW3, and Laugh-in.  

But even more importantly, (some of) the serious press spoke truth to power for us.  They informed, but they also spoke FOR THE PEOPLE.  They did not choose to defend, spin for a POTUS, 'cause they thought he might be fun to "have a beer with" or because he seemed "macho and manly" and swaggered.

But now we need young men, like John and Dante, to do the job for the millionaire press corps, who are more interested in socializing with the politicians than keeping them honest.
